New Project - A Kid Like Jake
Carla Gugino to Lead the Cast of A Kid Like Jake at Lincoln Center Theater

Stage and screen favorite Carla Gugino will join Caroline Aaron, Michelle Beck and Peter Grosz in LCT3's world premiere production of A Kid Like Jake by Daniel Pearle. The play will begin previews at Lincoln Center's Claire Tow Theater on June 2 and open on June 17 for a limited engagement through July 14, directed by Evan Cabnet.

A Kid Like Jake centers on NYC mom Alex (Gugino) and her husband, Greg (Grosz), the parents of a precocious four-year-old son named Jake. When they begin applying to private schools, they discover that part of what makes Jake special—his passion for Cinderella and dress-up—cause concern.

Gugino, known to movie and TV audiences for her roles in Spy Kids, American Gangster, A Night at the Museum, New Girl and Entourage, has appeared on Broadway in The Road to Mecca, Desire Under the Elms and After the Fall and off-Broadway in Suddenly Last Summer.

Aaron has appeared on Broadway in I Hate Hamlet, Social Security, The Iceman Cometh and Come Back to the Five and Dime and toured in LCT's production of The Sisters Rosensweig. Beck's off-Broadway credits include Much Ado About Nothing, Richard III, Love's Labour's Lost, As You Like It and The Tempest. Grosz's film and TV credits include Stranger Than Fiction, Veep and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

A Kid Like Jake will have sets by Andromache Chalfant, costumes by Jessica Wegener Shay, lighting by Japhy Weideman and sound by Jill BC DuBoff.

Carla Gugino and Peter Grosz to Star Off Broadway in 'A Kid Like Jake'

Caroline Aaron and Michelle Beck also appear in the LCT3 world premiere of Daniel Pearle's play about the concerned parents of a precocious child.

Carla Gugino will return to the New York stage, alongside Peter Grosz, a longtime writer on The Colbert Report, in the world premiere of Daniel Pearle's new play, A Kid Like Jake.

Directed by Evan Cabnet, the Off Broadway production will be staged at the Claire Tow Theater as part of Lincoln Center Theater's LCT3 initiative devoted to emerging artists. It begins performances June 2, with official opening set for June 17.

Caroline Aaron and Michelle Beck complete the cast. The play centers on a husband and wife (Gugino and Grosz) whose nurturing approach to their precocious four-year-old son runs into obstacles when his passion for Cinderella and playing dress-up causes concern at the Manhattan private schools to which they apply.

Gugino's recent stage work includes the 2012 Broadway revival of Athol Fugard's The Road to Mecca, in which she starred opposite Rosemary Harris; and a 2006 Off Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' Suddenly Last Summer, with Blythe Danner.

Grosz was a member until 2010 of the Emmy-winning writing team on The Colbert Report, also making occasional on-air appearances on the show. As an actor, he was seen last year on HBO's Veep.

LCT3 last season proved a strong platform for another Comedy Central alumnus, Aasif Mandvi (The Daily Show With Jon Stewart). He scored rave reviews starring at the same venue in Ayad Akhtar's Disgraced, which went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
